Patrisse Cullors is one of the founders of the human rights movement #BlackLivesMatter. She created the hashtag in 2013, following the acquittal of neighbourhood watchman George Zimmerman in the murder of the 17-year-old African American Trayvon Martin. Now #BlackLivesMatter is one of the largest grassroots organisations in the US. Set in Seattle, this intimate film follows Patrisse Cullors as she works with non-professional Black actors on a theatre performance based on their experiences of police brutality. Through an in-depth conversation with Patrisse Cullors, along with testimonials from participants, this film reflects on the role of gender and intersectional identities in resistance movements, and the need to continue the quest for justice.
