This film presents a portrait of a neighbourhood in Birmingham, which has become known as the ‘Jihadi Capital’ of Britain. The local Muslim community have been subjected to ‘Prevent’, the government anti-radicalisation programme. It is intended to detect early-warning signs of radicalisation by gathering information from teachers, social workers, imams and parents. Does ‘Prevent’ achieve its goals, or does it contribute to alienation? Through conversations about radicalisation with ex-jihadists, youth workers and mothers, this film explores the contemporary nature of cooperation, trust and resistance across civic, religious and government lines.
