MARKETING CAMPAIGN, 2011

Play International Music+Film Festival

In November 2011, a vibrant new international music+film festival, called PLAY, was launched in Melkweg in Amsterdam. Experimental to its core, PLAY brings music and film together in multiple forms: live concerts, music documentaries, concert movies, interactive labs, shorts and music videos. PLAY featured special guests such as Phife Dawg (Tribe Called Quest), James Lavelle (UNKLE), Lucky Fonz III, Dewolff and music documentary makers Bram van Splunteren and Don Letts.

Mamamess was assigned to develop the visual identity of this event. For the poster we used this mesmerising image of a mysterious girl, dancing on a stage in the summer of 1968. Nobody knew her name. Together with the festival founder Simon van Melick, we created the concept design for the festival, including the logo and communication materials.

In collaboration with Fat Fred, Niek IJsbouts, and cameraman Gabor Deak, we made the festival teaser to feature online and in the cinemas in Amsterdam during the International Documentary Film Festival.
